About our composite decks

So, you're looking to get a new deck and trying to find the right builder. Well, search no more!

Top Deck is a manufacturer and builder of state-of-the-art composite decks, and our modular deck system allows for short on-site build times.

Most composites are made of wood and plastic. We build Rainshed decks made from composite boards, which are a man-made product, made from a mineral infused high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic.

The mineral additive increases the strength of the boards and decreases the expansion/contraction common to all plastic lumber. Our mineral-infused composite protects against mildew, rot, mold, and insect infestation because there are no organic components on which these can feed or grow. This provides many benefits, such as durability and a longer lifespan than pressure treated wood.

Because no organic fills are used, there is nothing for mold or mildew to adhere to.

Now that you know what our composite decks are made of, maybe you’re interested in one because you don’t want all the upkeep that goes along with a wood deck, or you like composite decks because they last years longer without fading. So, what makes Top Deck different from everyone else? Our system, Rainshed Decking.

Most composite decks have a wooden frame, so even though your composite deck floor will need only minimal upkeep over the years and still look great on top; you will most likely end up with a rotting wooden frame because of water leakage and absorption year after year. But not if you get your deck from Top Deck! Our system, Rainshed Decking, will keep your wooden frame dry.

Many people say #1 grade ground contact pressure treated pine has been used for years, and it works great. Right? Wrong!

Ground contact pressure-treated pine does not come with the protection it once had. Because of this, rot failure in decks occurs far more frequently than in the past.

Rainshed Decking is a product that diverts water that normally comes through the decking, out to the ends of the deck. This not only allows for dry space below; it also keeps the wooden frame of a deck dry, keeping your deck healthy for many years to come!

You will see that Rainshed Decking produces the best composite deck solution on the market.

You expect your composite deck to last for decades. Rainshed Decking accomplishes just that.

Due to health concerns in 2003, the Environmental Protection Agency phased arsenic out of treated lumber. A multitude of different treatment methods have been used, but none have been as effective at preventing rot. The lack of old growth lumber has led deck frames to be constructed with less than desirable material. The frames for most composite decks are made of treated pine, meaning decking frames are still subject to unseen rot failure.

7 year old frame with substantial rot. Built with #1 grade ground contact treated pine.

Years later our structures look and function like new. The key is to keep the treated pine frames from getting wet, Standard exterior stairs are framed with treated pine and within 5 to 10 years some or significant rotting will occur. However, our stair systems are fully composite to keep it from rotting and are reinforced with aluminum.

Keeping the frame dry eliminates most problems associated with wooden frames and composite decks. Rainshed Decking is highly effective at preventing the wooden frame from getting wet, eliminating rot and unsightly algae, mold, and mildew. It also protects against other typical problems associated with wet, aged lumber – such as rotting wood fibers surrounding fasteners – which cause weak frames, wobbly stairs, and sagging. Allowing these issues to occur is why decks rot and become dangerous over time.

The use of Rainshed Decking prevents this damage from occurring. Rainshed Decking lets your frame last decades longer by keeping water off the frame. That is why we offer a 35 year limited warranty on the frame. Rainshed Decking produces the best composite deck solution on the market.
